Obtaining Klarna API Credentials
If you made a purchase with installation, you'll need to send us the test Klarna API credentials to be added to the plugin and test the installation in your store. Once everything goes well, you'll send us the Live Klarna API credentials to set up the production environment for normal use by your customers.
This guide explains step by step the process of creating Klarna API credentials (demo and Live)
Obtaining Test API Credentials
To test Klarna's API integration, you'll need a set of test credentials. Follow these steps to obtain them:
- Access the test Merchant portal: https://portal.playground.klarna.com/?utm_source=docs-portal-mp-loging
- Click on Settings (with the gear icon) in the left sidebar at the bottom
- Click the Generate new Klarna API credentials button with the + icon
- In the dialog window that appears titled "Klarna API keys generated!", download the .txt file and close the dialog window.
Now you have a username and password to authenticate when testing the APIs. Note that the test credentials will only work for requests sent to playground API addresses. The password is displayed only once. You won't be able to retrieve it after closing the dialog window.
Send us the file to perform the test.
Additional Steps
Click on the Client identifiers link in the left column, which is just below the Klarna Api Keys you used earlier. In the new screen, click on the Allowed Origins tab, and enter a new origin (your store's URL) so that requests from this URL receive responses from Klarna.
Set up your production account and prepare for launch
Once the contract is signed and production Merchant IDs (MIDs) are created, you'll receive an activation email for access to the production Merchant portal. Activate your user account.
Obtain production API credentials
✓ Repeat the above steps to create API credentials, this time in the production Merchant portal.
✓ Save the username and password generated and forward the file to us again
You will be notified by the technical department upon completion.
